Aside from the usual excellent lineup of shiurim and learning groups, there are a few special events we would like to highlight:

·        the Senior NCSY group has a mini-Shabbaton this weekend -- for more details, please consult the Youth page

·        Rabbi Binny Blau of Fuchs Mizrachi and the Torat Tzion Kollel in OH (a nephew of Rav EM Teitz sh'l'y't'a' and, for those who recently moved into the community, the Rabbi of our shul for over a decade before he decided to return full-time to chinuch) will i'y'H' give a shiur on Shabbos afternoon (after the customary seudah shlishis)

·        after Shabbos is out, Rabbi Dr. Avraham Twerski will give a lecture in memory of Rav MP Teitz z'l'

Here is the Shabbos-afternoon/evening schedule for the JEC Elmora Shul (all events will take place in the main shul unless otherwise noted):

·        3:40PM: Blatt, Maseches Yuma (with Rabbi A. Herman)

·        4:30PM: Mishna Yomis, Maseches P'sachim (with Rabbi Herman)

·        4:40PM: Mincha, followed by brief seudah shlishis in downstairs lunchroom

·        5:25PM: Shiur (with Rabbi B. Blau)

·        5:55PM: Ma'ariv

·        8:15PM: Lecture by Rabbi Dr. A. Twerski

Thanks for reading this message, and have a wonderful Shabbos!

The Shul's Melaveh Malkah is just around the corner: Motzoai Shabbos, February 11th.  If you've already responded, thank you!  If you have not yet sent in your reservation, please take a few moments and reply to this message with information on who from your household is coming.  Additionally, if possible, please mail or bring the reply card you received via US Mail to the JEC Business Office by Monday, February 6th.

A fun and enjoyable evening has been planned.

Thank you -- we hope to see you there!

Chaim Sarasohn, one of our hard-working Youth Committee volunteers, will now be overseeing the weekly Shabbos-morning and monthly Shabbos-afternoon groups.  If you have any groups-related suggestions or comments, please feel free to contact him.  Thanks.

All your past work on behalf of our community's young men & women is greatly appreciated, Chaim!  Hatzlachah rabbah in this new undertaking.

A wide variety of joyous events are planned over the course of the next few days, including but not limited to

·        the shul's annual Melaveh Malkah; and

·        subsequent to a well-received set of Taharas Hamishpachah shiurim for married women by Rebbetzin Neuberger of the Bruriah faculty, the first of two Taharas Hamishpachah shiurim by Rabbi Herman for married men (both sets of shiurim are sponsored by Mikvah Tomer Devorah)

For details on these and other events (both past and planned, both specific to our community and basic to the Jewish life cycle), please consult the online calendar.  In fact, as we regularly update the calendar, please check it weekly!  As always, if you have any comments or suggestions on it or any other aspect of the Website, feel free to reply to this message.  Thank you, and have a wonderful and restful Shabbos!

Rabbi Herman's two-part Taharas Hamishpachah shiur for married men will not begin tonight, due to today's snowstorm.  Instead, Part I is rescheduled for this coming Sunday night, 19 February, and Part II will i'y'H' take place on the following Sunday night, 26 February; as before, both shiurim are scheduled to begin at 8PM.  Thank you, and please stay safe during and after the storm!

Mrs. Geiger just finished sitting shiv'a for her father, Henry Spatz a'h'.  She came back from Massachusetts late last week, so many community members may not have been able to visit & provide comfort during her shiv'a (or, indeed, may not have been aware she was sitting shiv'a in her home).  If you can, take a few moments and call her (tel#: 908-351-2475) or write up & send a condolence card (ZIP: 07083-7754).  Thanks!

The meteorologists promise colder weather, but here in Elizabeth, we're bringing the heat!  After enjoying a wonderful Shabbos with family & friends, come on down to the JEC gym (a/k/a the Levy Auditorium) for what promises to be a truly-fun evening with a serious side: sample food & drink together with your neighbors while you consider your Purim-s'udah, Pesach-saider, and other culinary needs -- no speeches, we promise! -- and raise funds for your community's school.

Does it get any better?  Of course it does.  Rabbi Avrohom Herman will i'y'H' (weather permitting ;-)) be giving the first of two shiurim on the topic of Taharas Hamishpachah this coming Sunday evening for engaged and married men.  You will definitely learn something -- please come!

Have a really-special weekend, recharge your spiritual and physical batteries, and stay tuned for new announcements next week!

One more announcement before Shabbos: a newsletter for our shul!  Kudos to Sheila Nashofer and Alex Flomin for working night & day to bring this newsletter to you -- we wish them much hatzlachah in continuing to bring us JEC Elmora Shul news and shul-related features in a beautiful, compact format.

A guten Shabbes to all!

As indicated in the weekly bulletin, two minyanim are scheduled for Monday morning: one at 7:30AM, to take place in the JEC Reibel ("street-level"/"old") Bais Medrash, and the other at 8:30AM, to take place in the main shul.  A third minyan, at 6:40AM, will i'y'H' be held in the Reibel Bais Medrash, and it (not the 7:30AM minyan) will i'y'H' be preceded by a 15-min. Mishna Yomis shiur to be given, as usual, by Rabbi Herman.  Thank you.
