[20] Website updates to Shul-members page
-----
-----
Many aspects of the shul Website continue
to be updated on a regular basis. In
this message, we highlight two sections:
·
our Youth Committee has
a lot of events planned for you and your children & grandchildren, from Hamentashen
baking this coming Sunday to Oneg & learning events to bowling -- for details, be
sure to see the March 2006 flyer
·
we've inaugurated a new section, Torah audio/video, with files
from Rabbi Avrohom Herman's recent
two-part shiur for men reviewing elements of Taharas Hamishpachah (as the shiur
was sponsored by Mikvah Tomer Devorah,
please note that these files can also be reached from within the JEC Organizations section)
Thank you for reading this message,
surfing the site, and thinking of ways to improve the site and our community!
This coming Sunday, Yeshiva
Be'er Yitzchak (YBY) will be honoring two members of our
community, Messrs. Chaim Yeager and Gregg Rothstein. YBY has been a tremendous
resource of Torah for us all and inculcates its students with a proper
lifestyle as well as the means to succeed in their future endeavors. YBY's annual Dinners (this upcoming one will
be the third in its history) are its sole means of raising necessary funding --
if you can, please display hakoras hatov for what YBY already has done
and help it do more in the future by attending the Dinner and/or placing an
advertisement in the Dinner Journal.
Rates, some specially discounted for JEC members, are listed in the next
paragraph. To participate in this
effort or for more information, please contact Rabbi Yirmiyahu Bauminger at 908-354-6057 or Rabbi Avrohom Shulman at 917-907-0532. Thanks!
Contribution levels:
·
$250: two Dinner reservations and a
full-page ad (one reservation is $125, so the ad is a bonus!)
·
$175: half-page ad
·
$100: quarter-page ad
·
$50: eighth-page ad
and please note that every Dinner
attendee will be entered into a raffle for a trip to eretz Yisrael!
Because our Mora d'Asra, Rav EMTeitz, is in eretz
Yisrael this week for a blessed occasion, the deadline for letting the JEC Business
Office know how many pairs of T'filin and/or M'zuzah parchments you would like
a sofer to check has been extended to this coming Sunday, 12 March. Please see (and utilize) the form. Assuming sufficient interest, Rabbi Teitz
has arranged for a sofer to come before Pesach, perhaps as soon as 7-10 days
after Purim. Thanks!

A few events to note for this coming
Shabbos and the week which follows:
·
on Shabbos morning,
please join us in fulfilling the "remember what Amalek did" mitzva by
hearing the reading of Parashas "Zachor" from a Sefer
Torah (for some details of the mitzva, see this Har Etzion VBM shiur)
·
please remind your 3rd-5th Graders of
the Shabbos-afternoon
oneg, starting at 3PM in the JEC Shabbos-groups room
("downstairs"/same level as the RTMA Bais Medrash)
·
due to scheduling changes within
NCSY, our Youth Coordinators have nimbly added a different event for the
following day, Sunday, March 12th -- let's go ice skating at Warinanco Park
between 12:45PM-3PM! All 6th-8th
Graders (and parents) are welcome.
Program cost: $5 (plus another $5 if you need to rent skates). For further details, please contact Yosef or Malki.
·
last and certainly not least, lots of
activities will be occurring in our community around and on Purim -- in
general, please see our Calendar
for details, but here are two important notes:
o
if you haven't yet made reservations
for the Chagigah, RSVP to Alice Hall at 908-353-4959
o
re the Shushan Purim party for seniors,
the tel# for contact person Marsha Schenker was incorrectly listed in the
weekly schedule but is
correctly listed in the flyer
and in the membership list: 908-289-1863
Have a wonderful Shabbos, continue to mark the month of Adar with simcha, and stay tuned for further announcements in the near future.

When Haman haRasha saw Mordechai haTzaddiq learning with children, he knew that he would not succeed with his plans to destroy Klal Yisrael. "Yeshivas Mordechai Hatzadik" will i'y'H' be operating at full spiritual capacity for avos ubanim/fathers&sons on Purim morning, and all young men ages 7 through 14 and their fathers are welcome to join, beginning after the 8AM Shacharis minyan with breakfast in the JEC Lunchroom. To sweeten the learning even more, all attendee families will [at a later date] receive prizes! Please come -- RSVP to Amy Tropp at 908-355-7627 or 908-337-7756. Thanks!

Rabbi Yosef Blau, brother-in-law of our Mora d'Asra, Rav EMTeitz, is sitting shiv'a for his mother a'h' at 66 Overlook Terrace, #5B in Washington Heights (upper Manhattan), NY (tel#: 212-568-1129; ZIP: 10040-3824) through Thursday morning. Davening times are as follows:
Sincerest condolences to the mishpachah, including the Blau and Teitz families. May we have the opportunity to share better news in the future and witness the era of "billa hamawves lawnetzach."

Hatzolah EMS of North Jersey (which serves the Passaic/Clifton/Paterson area) has a message for us all -- appropriate year-round, it is especially relevant for the upcoming Purim holiday. Please see its flyer (which is endorsed by our community's Hatzalah VAC of Union County)...and may we all have a joyous Purim and month of Adar!
As our tradition notes, there's no time like the present to start preparing for the upcoming Pesach holiday, and many physical aspects of the holiday revolve around what our ancestors ate and didn't eat. With that in mind, we would like to mention that many Kashrus-supervision services provide lots of worthwhile information to aid with your food&goods-related preparations and also will send you alerts (e.g., missing or unauthorized information on the packaging) upon request. We would like to note one particular Website here, as it's a portal for alerts and information from many of those services, including the OU (such as an alert this week re Osem Bamba snacks), Kof-K, Star-K, and other well-known and -respected organizations as well as many regional groups: Kashrut.com. Their home page contains links for many useful pages of information, including but not limited to their sign-up page; the latest Passover alerts; Passover guides from many supervision services; and even an excellent calculator for z'manim. Let us know if this site is as useful for you as it is for us! Thanks.

Two events to note for this coming Shabbos:
Have a wonderful Shabbos, continue to mark the month of Adar with simcha, and stay tuned for further announcements in the near future.
Heartiest congratulations to Rabbi Eliyahu D. Teitz on his engagement to Michelle Roufa. Best wishes to his parents, Rabbi and Mrs. EMTeitz. May we continue to hear and pass on good news!
Two events over the next few days:
Moti Roth, who recorded the two recent Taharas Hamishpachah shiurim given by Rabbi Herman (by the way, both shiurim, along with the accompanying handouts, are now on the Website), will i'y'H' do the same for at least this week's shiur, so look for the MP3 files, etc. to appear soon on the relevant Webpage. Tremendous kudos to both Rabbi Herman and Moti for their efforts towards harbotzas Torah/bringing learning to us all! Thanks to an anonymous sponsor, the Elmora Shul just acquired a MP3 player of its own so that our Rabbonim and others can record speeches, shiurim, etc. at any time, and we look forward to continuing to post electronic information and divrai Torah to the Website.
Please continue to mark the month of Adar with simcha; stay tuned for further announcements in the near future.
A few events to note:
Have a wonderful Shabbos, prepare to celebrate&reenact our past g'ulah and prepare for future g'ulah, and stay tuned for further announcements in the near future.
Heartiest congratulations to Yitzie Hyman on his engagement to Olivia Bondarsky. Best wishes to parents Dr. Emile Hyman and Bella Farkas Hyman; Zeide, and longtime Adath Israel gabbai, Mr. Moshe Farkas and the entire Farkas family; and siblings Avi, Shira, and Zocky. May we continue to hear and pass on good news!
In addition to what was noted two days ago, please also note that most Americans will soon be changing their clocks for Daylight Savings Time -- as a result, the last motzoai-Shabbos learning session for parents & their children at the JEC until the fall season will i'y'H' be held tomorrow night -- consult the weekly schedule for details. Jerusalem Pizza will be satisfying physical hunger by sponsoring pizza for all participants. Please come with your kids and enjoy the evening! Thanks.
A guten Shabbes/Shabbas Shalom to one and all!
