A message from our shul's Adult Education Committee:

The JEC Elmora Shul has been showing weekly live broadcasts of two fantastic shiurim, by Rabbi Yissocher Frand on Thursday nights and by Rabbi Yisroel Reisman on motzoei Shabbasos.  In order to introduce the uninitiated to the wonderful world of Rabbi Reisman's shiurim, with the express permission of Rabbi Reisman and the kind contribution of Yossi Fishman, TCN is pleased to offer an audio/video streaming link (click here to begin the presentation) and a MP3 (audio only) link (for those who have trouble with the audio/video link or want to download the audio file for listening in the future -- click here to request detailed download instructions) to Rabbi Reisman's excellent first shiur of the season.  They are giving us access to these links in order to allow you to "try out" the shiur and see why we are so excited about offering this program in our community.  Attendance to these shiurim will demonstrate the level of interest by our membership & the general community and the practicality of a sustained program.  Please contact Howard Goldsmith at 908-558-1920 or Akiva Miller at 908-414-2377 if you have any questions or for more information about these shiurim.  Thank you.

All members are welcome to attend and participate in the next Elmora Shul meeting (agenda attached), scheduled for Tuesday night, Nov. 13th, at 8PM in the Main Shul.  (As the next Board elections will soon occur, a petition to run for a Board seat is also attached.  Please note that five seats are open for this coming election.)  These meetings provide you with a chance to hear what's going on and to participate in deciding what will, b'ezras H', be accomplished, so if you can, please come...and then stay for the refreshments and the chance to buttonhole Shul Board members one-on-one.  Thank you, and have a great week!

Pinchas (owner of our community's One Stop Kosher market and Glatt Star catering and other services) is sitting shiv'a for his father a'h' at 180 Hooper Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY (tel#: 718-384-3119; ZIP: 11211-7912) through Friday morning.  If we understand correctly, entrance for men is through Ap't 7, entrance for women is through Ap't 8, and both entrances are on the second floor.  For those considering public transportation, please see the HopStop site -- this address is a short walk from the M-train Hewes Street stop.

Sincerest condolences to the entire mishpachah, including the Kasirer family.  May we have the opportunity to share better news in the future and witness the era of "bila hamaves lanetzach."

Please join us on Friday night, November 30th, beginning at 8:15PM in the JEC Halpern Cafeteria (the "lunchroom"), for an Oneg Shabbos featuring Shul member Rabbi Harry Schlakman discussing "Life in Israel Today: an Emunah-based Perspective" (flyer online).  Ruach and refreshments in good company -- who could ask for anything more?  Thank you for reading, and enjoy the remainder of this week!

As noted on eKesher, two Mincha minyanim have recently started.  Baruch H', the 2:20PM minyan at Yeshivas Be'er Yitzchak is well-attended, but the 12:45PM Bruriah minyan could use a few more regular attendees.  If you are not already committed to a Mincha minyan and can commit to attending the Bruriah minyan, please seriously consider doing so for the sake of its current attendees, many of whom do not have the option of davening Mincha with a minyan at a different time.  Thank you!

[10]

As noted in the JEC weekly schedule, Rabbi Avrohom Herman has been speaking on topics related to Shmitah during our shul's S'udah Shlishis, and recently he has been quoting passages from a significant seifer called "Toras haSh'vi'is" written, interestingly, by the father-in-law of Shul member Charlie Tarlowe.  While this seifer is not likely to be reprinted in the near future, it is (and hundreds of other s'farim are) available at the HebrewBooks.org Website -- if you wish to access this book's pages directly, you can click on this link.  (By the way, another Website which maintains an online library is HalachaBrura.org, and you can can access that library by clicking on this link.)  Thank you for reading this message and for attending and/or supporting this and/or other community shiurim and Torah events!
