To quote a member of our community:
It's a GIANT day in Elizabeth today!
A victory by
the home team lifts us all.
So to the Giants and all their fans, a
hearty Mazal Tov!

Gentle reminder: tonight's shiur is open to all married (and about-to-be-married) men and is scheduled to begin in the JEC Reibel Beis Medrash at 8PM (with Ma'ariv minyanim both preceding and following the shiur). If you can, please join us! Thanks.

Heartiest congratulations to grandparents Sheila and Marty Nashofer on the birth of a daughter to their children, Bracha and Moshe Nashofer. May we continue to hear and pass on good news!

Normally, we deliberately take the community "eruv" down for the Shabbos after P'Zachor (see a message from two years ago for more details on the topic), but we will not do so this [leap] year. The JEC weekly schedule listed this year's "eruv"-down date as Shabbos P'Ki Sisa, 22&23 Feb 2008, but the date has been changed to the subsequent Shabbos P'Vayakhel, 29 Feb&01 Mar 2008. Thank you.

As it has done for prior Federal holidays, Yeshivas Be'er Yitzchok is hosting (in its Beis Medrash, 1391 North Avenue) a learning program this coming Monday, Feb. 18th (Presidents' Day), beginning with Shacharis at 8AM, to be followed by breakfast, pre-shiur preparation/chavrusa, and, beginning at 10:15AM, the shiur itself. The magid shiur will i'y'H' be Rabbi Avrohom Schorr, a renowned lecturer and a son of Rav G'daliah Schorr z'l'. Thank you for reading!

Thanks to the efforts of community members, our Shul will be hosting Chazzan Asher Scharf (known for his Carlebach-tune renditions) over the weekend of Shabbos P' Vayakheil/M'var'chim Chodesh Adar Beis, Feb. 29th and March 1st, and that Friday night, beginning at 8:30PM, all men are invited to a tisch (flyer online) at the home of Sarah and Steve Karp, 171 Monmouth Road, for what undoubtedly (especially keeping in mind how ruach-filled the prior tisch was!) will be a leibedik celebration in honor of Shabbos. We hope to see you in Shul and/or at the tisch! Thank you.

In order to allow full community participation in all events scheduled during and just after Shabbos P'Vayakhel, 29 Feb&01 Mar 2008, the community "eruv" will not be deliberately taken down that weekend (or, indeed, the remainder of year 5768); please note that the Shabbos will still be dedicated to "eruv" awareness. (Speaking of that weekend's events: if you have not yet planned to attend the Mikvah Tomer Devorah Melaveh Malkah, please consider doing so -- you can contact either Shaindy Pinsker at 908-353-8667 or Tara Speyer at 908-352-3969.) Thank you.
