We regretfully inform the community of the passing of Mrs. Mania Mandelbaum a'h', mother of Robert and Richard Mandelbaum.  The funeral will take place on Thu., Nov. 5th, in the Adath Israel Shul, 1391 North Avenue, beginning at 1PM.  Robert (cellphone: 908-400-7747) will initially (beginning this afternoon) sit shiv'a for his mother a'h' at his residence, 805 Park Avenue in Elizabeth, NJ (tel#: 908-558-0242; ZIP: 07208-1331).  From Monday morning through the end of shiv'a, he plans to sit at the residence of his brother Richard, 186-15 Midland Parkway in Jamaica Estates, NY (tel#: 718-264-2309, -1076; ZIP: 11432-5826).  Davening times at the Elizabeth beis aveil are as follows:

·  Shacharis: Fri @ 7AM, Sun @ 8AM

·  Mincha, followed by a short shiur and then Ma'ariv: Thu (today) @ 4:40PM, Sun @ the JEC Elmora Shul time (probably 4:30PM -- please check the weekly schedule once it is published tomorrow [Fri])

 

Sincerest condolences to the entire mishpachah, including the Mandelbaum family.  May we have the opportunity to share better news in the future and witness the era of "bila hamaves lanetzach."

We would like to remind you of two events:

 

1.     The annual shul membership meeting will take place on Wednesday evening, November 11th at 8pm.   Please join us in the main shul Note:  There is a home hockey game at the same time in the old gym.  The cafeteria will be used by one of the teams as a changing/locker room.  Please enter the building through the shul lobby doors; do not pass through the cafeteria to get to the main shul

2.     The Sisterhood Chocolate Tasting Event will be held this Tuesday evening, November 16th.  Please rsvp to Lisa Aflalo with payment by Wednesday Nov 11th.  Responses with checks can be dropped off at Lisa's house (35 Hillside Road) or at the JEC business office.

We regret to inform you of the passing of Harold "Uncle Hershel" Zelmanovics a'h'.  The funeral and l'vaya will i'y'H'take place today, Thursday, Nov. 12th, at the JEC, 330 Elmora Avenue, beginning at 2PM.

1.     Everyone is invited to join the teen's Carlebach style Kabbolas Shabbos on Friday afternoon, November 13th in the JEC Reibel Bais Medrash (to be followed by dinner for high school age boys).  Mincha will start at 4:30.

2.     This weekend's Mevorchim Cheshvan kiddush is being sponsored by Marcy Fox in honor of her new granddaughter, Laurie.

We regretfully inform you of the passing of Toby Schuster, sister of Dr. Lester Eckman.  Dr. Eckman will sit shiva at his home in Elizabeth at 747 Livingston Road on both Tuesday, Nov 17th and Wed, Nov 18th from 10am-noon and 7-9pm.  Mincha and Maariv will be in the home starting at 4:20 on those days.

 

May the family be comforted among the mourners of Tzion & Yerushalayim.

We regretfully inform you of the passing of the mother of Zisi Freudenberger.  The levaya will take place today, Tuesday, November 17th at 1pm at Shomrei Hadas, corner of 39th Street and 14th Avenue in BrooklynZisi will be sitting shiva at 1716 Avenue O in Brooklyn through Thursday evening, Nov 19th.  She will then sit shiva at home, 1057 Harding Road, Elizabeth, on Friday Nov 20th until chatzos (approx 2pm), motzai Shabbos Nov 21st and Sunday Nov 22nd until 8pm.

 

May the family be comforted among the mourners of Tzion and Yerushalayim.

Please join us on Motzoai Shabbat, December 19th 2009, at this year’s JEC Elmora Ave. Shul Dinner as we honor Debbie and Chaim Sarasohn. The Sarasohns are active members of our shul who have given generously of their time, working on committees that service both the youth and senior members of our community. Debbie, the daughter of Dr. Manfred and Renee Prager A”H, was raised in Elizabeth, and attended both the JEC and Bruriah. She has served as VP of Women’s Division, is currently Co-President of the Shul Sisterhood, and is also working on the Senior Lunch and Learn program. Chaim has been a member of the Youth Committee since its inception. He is also Coordinator of the Father/Son Learning program.

 

We will also be extending Hakarat Hatov to Mati Buchsbaum, Eitan Gold, Esther Hornung and Yossi Mason, for their work with the Youth Department.

 

Please watch for your invitation in the mail. We look forward to seeing you there.

Heartiest congratulations to Amy and Rabbi Matt Tropp on the birth of a son last (Monday) night.  The "Shalom Zachar" gathering will i'y'H' take place this coming Friday night at the Tropp residence, 62 Hillside Road, beginning at 8:30PM.  The b'ris is scheduled for Tuesday, 24 Nov 2009, at the JEC Main Shul (Shacharis at 7AM, b'ris to follow at approximately 7:40AM) -- may it occur b'sha'ah tovah umutzlachas, and may we continue to hear and pass on good news!
