Dear Friends:
"The role of the Mikvah is that it takes man out of this world and immerses him totally within the environment of Torah and the world to come." (Michtav MiEliyahu Vol. I: p. 261)
Baruch Hashem, our community continues to flourish both in size and spiritual scope. We marvel at the community's commitment to a "Modern Torah Community" -- the vision of Maran HaRav Teitz ztl. and, Yibadel L'Chaim Tovim, our Mara D'Asra, Maran Harav Teitz, Shlita as it becomes more of a reality each day.
Still, central to that environment of Torah that we all strive to contribute to build, is the Mikvah. Our Mikvah system (the 3 Mikvaos and the Keilim Mikvah) unites us together, enveloping each home in our community with a sense of Kedusha and Tahara. Each home uses the Mikvah and each of us must do our part to keep the system well-maintained.
With that in mind, we would like to remind you of 2 very important Mikvah-related events taking place in our community in the next 2 weeks:
First, we want to remind the men of the community about the annual Taharas HaMishpacha Refresher Course. The community-wide Shovavim project will feature Shiurim on two successive Tuesday nights, February 2nd and 9th. These Shiurim -- this year for MEN -- will feature Rav Herman (February 2nd) on the subject of "Medical procedures and Taharas HaMishpacha" and Rav Schwartz (Feb. 9th) on "What every husband should know BEFORE bringing a Shaila to the Rabbi". Both Shiurim will take place at JEC's Reibel Beis HaMedrash at 8:15 pm.
Second, our annual Mikvah Melaveh Malka and Chinese Auction will take place this Motzai Shabbos, February 6th. The Melaveh Malka is one of the most enjoyable events on our community's calendar as it brings the different members of our Kehilla together for an evening of camaraderie, entertainment and unity to benefit a great need within the community -- our Mikvah system. We hope you will attend this event and encourage your friends to attend as well. Please contact Mrs. Shira Platnick (436-9131 or sdplatnick@yahoo.com) with your reservation today (contact us to receive the Mikva Prizes and response forms).
We thank you for your continued active support for our Mikvah and Kehillah.
B'Yedidus,
Rabbi Yaakov Dombroff Rabbi Avrohom Herman Rabbi Jonathan
Schwartz

The handout and audio for Rabbi Herman's 02Feb2010 shiur are available online (enjoy!), and many thanks to the men who attended despite the inclement weather. All men, even if they missed the earlier shiur (and don't listen to its audio prior to this coming Tuesday night), are cordially invited to Rabbi Schwartz's 09Feb2010 shiur. Thank you.

We are pleased to announce that Reb Shlomo Weiss will be a Chazzan-in-Residence for Shabbas P' Yisro, 05-06 Feb 2010 (and thanks to the community members involved with his coming this weekend). I'y'H', he will be leading Main-Shul services for Kabbolas Shabbos on Friday night (after services, all men are cordially invited to a Tisch, beginning at 7:45PM, at the home of Goldy and Shmuel Mandel, 886 Livingston Road [between Hillside and Summit]) and for Shacharis and Musaf on Shabbos morning. Please attend and enjoy -- we hope to see you in Shul and/or at the tisch!

Just a reminder that the second Shovavim shiur for married men will take place on Tuesday evening, February 9th, at the JEC Reibel Bais Medrash, beginning at 8:15pm. Rabbi Jonathan Schwartz will speak about "What Every Husband Should Know Before Asking a Sh'aila to the Rav."

Thanks to the hard work of many Shul members, especially Alex Flomin and Sheila Nashofer, our Shul now has a new, attractive Website, http://JECElmoraShul.org/. We hope it will present our warm community in a proper manner to The World and act as a "go to" source of information for all (as an example: via the new, left-hand menu with its "+"-indicated submenus, upcoming events for Youth and for the community are just a click or two away!). Please check out (and bookmark and regularly visit) the site and let us know what you think -- we are and will constantly be improving it. Thank you!

The Elmora Ave Shul's Purim Chagigah entertainment, the Yaakov Chesed band, will be staying in our community Shabbos next week to enhance our youth events throughout shabbos.
