Year-2010
shiurim:
This shiur,
given on
Tuesday night, January 19th, was entitled
"Ashkenaz and Sephard: Two different approaches to Torah."
The audio begins with an
introduction by
Rabbi Herman. Rav Hamburger uses many examples
and a liberal dose of humor to note the ancient traditions,
nusach hat'filah*, and practices which Ashkenazim (especially Yekkes) still share
with Sephardim as well as those in which they differ. Enjoy!

Noteworthy: different nuschaos are rooted in different tribal origins.
The sages of Ashkenaz strictly maintained their tradition going back to Churban ha'Bayis --
they forbade to change even a single word from the texts of their prayers. |
